I am happy to report that my short story, “Helping Padraig Die,” has won the 2021 Great Midwest Fiction Contest of the Midwest Review and will appear in a forthcoming issue. My story “Helping Ruthie Die,” published in the CHILLfiltr Review, was a 2019 finalist.
My latest edited book is Mists on the River: Folktales from Siberia, by Yeremei Aipin, from Shanti Arts, Brunswick, ME. July 2020. Check it out here: http://www.shantiarts.co/uploads/files/abc/AIPIN_MISTS.html
Don’t miss reruns of “Words from a Bear” on PBS “American Masters” series. The film focuses on N. Scott Momaday, the father of Native American literature. Check him out in Meditations After the Bear Feast, one of my jointly-edited books. For background info on my relation with Momaday, see: newsletter.blogs.wesleyan.edu/2019/11/14/smith-66-on-translating-and-promoting-global-indigenous-literature/
