I was saddened to learn of the recent passing of N. Scott Momaday, “The Father or Native American Literature.” Scott provided the Foreword to The Way of Kinship, an anthology of Native Siberian literature I edited with the late Alexander Vashchenko:

His poems and artwork appeared in another book we edited,
Meditations After the Bear Feast: http://www.shantiarts.co/uploads/files/stu/SMITH_MEDITATIONS.html
Scott appeared frequently on PBS, most recently in the Ken Burns-Lynn Novick film “The American Buffalo,” and in “Words From a Bear” in the American Masters series. Watch for re-runs.
